O HTS controla uma parte do territ\u00f3rio no noroeste da S\u00edria com o objetivo de derrubar o regime de Assad na S\u00edria e substitu\u00ed-lo por um estado isl\u00e2mico sunita para promover sua pr\u00f3pria agenda como uma das afiliadas da Al-Qaeda na S\u00edria. Desde a sua funda\u00e7\u00e3o, o HTS tomou v\u00e1rios cidad\u00e3os estadunidenses como ref\u00e9ns.
