Durante os anos 80, Aqil foi um membro principal da Organiza\u00e7\u00e3o Jihad Isl\u00e2mica – a c\u00e9lula terrorista do Hezbollah – que reivindicou os bombardeios da Embaixada dos EUA em Beirute em abril de 1983, que matou 63 pessoas, e do quartel do Corpo de Fuzileiros Navais dos EUA em outubro de 1983, que matou 241 funcion\u00e1rios dos EUA.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Na d\u00e9cada de 1980, Aqil dirigiu a tomada de ref\u00e9ns americanos e alem\u00e3es no L\u00edbano e os manteve l\u00e1.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Em 21 de julho de 2015, e de acordo com a Ordem Executiva 13582, o Departamento do Tesouro dos EUA classificou Aqil por agir em nome do Hezbollah.
