Rewards for Justice is offering a reward of up to $5 million for information on the kidnappings and murders of Americans in Lebanon from 1982 to 1992. During this period, Hizballah and Hizballah-linked terrorists kidnapped and held hostage nearly 100 foreign nationals, mostly Westerners. Among the kidnapping victims, Americans William Buckley, Peter Kilburn, and William Higgins were tortured and killed.

William Buckley was the CIA station chief in Lebanon, a role for which he volunteered after the 1983 U.S. Embassy Beirut bombing that killed 63, including 17 Americans. On March 16, 1984, Buckley was kidnapped in Beirut on his way to work. Buckley was interrogated and tortured before he died in captivity on June 3, 1985.

Peter Kilburn was a librarian at the American University of Beirut. On December 3, 1984, he was reported missing. Sixteen months later, his body was found along with those of two other captives. The victims had been shot and then dumped in the mountains east of Beirut.

U.S. Marine Corps Colonel William Higgins was part of a United Nations peacekeeping mission in southern Lebanon when he was kidnapped on February 17, 1988. His captors tortured and interrogated Higgins before killing him.
