Rewards for Justice is offering a reward of up to $10 million for information that leads to the disruption of the financial mechanisms of Hizballah. Ali al-Sha’ir serves as office manager to Hizballah financier Hasib Muhammad Hadwan and has been accepting financial contributions on behalf of Hizballah since 2000. As part of their functions and responsibilities in Hizballah, al-Sha’ir and Hadwan use the international financial system to transfer money to Lebanon, while concealing the real purpose behind the fundraising, which is financing the terror organization’s activity.
On September 17, 2021, the U.S. Department of the Treasury designated al-Sha’ir as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist pursuant to Executive Order 13224, as amended. As a result of this designation, among other consequences, all property and interests in property of al-Sha’ir that are subject to U.S. jurisdiction are blocked, and U.S. persons are generally prohibited from engaging in any transactions with al-Sha’ir. In addition, it is a crime to knowingly provide, or attempt or conspire to provide, material support or resources to Hizballah, a U.S.-designated Foreign Terrorist Organization.
