Rewards for Justice is offering a reward of up to $10 million for information leading to the identification or location of any person who, while acting at the direction or under the control of a foreign government, participates in malicious cyber activities against U.S. critical infrastructure in violation of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA).
Hossein Harooni is wanted by U.S. authorities for his alleged involvement in a coordinated, multi-year campaign that conducted cyber intrusions into more than 12 U.S. companies, as well as the U.S. Departments of State and the Treasury.
From at least about May 2018 through June 2021, Hossein Harooni, a national of the Islamic Republic of Iran, was associated with multiple Iranian companies with connections to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), a U.S.-designated Foreign Terrorist Organization and a Specially Designated Global Terrorist entity.
In or around the time of his alleged activity, Hossein Harooni was associated with Dadeh Afzar Arman and Data Processing of East (DPE) – both of which were located inside Iran.
