Le 18 mars 2012, Shrum, \u00e2g\u00e9 de 29 ans, a \u00e9t\u00e9 abattu alors qu&rsquo;il se rendait \u00e0 son travail \u00e0 Taizz, au Y\u00e9men, par un homme arm\u00e9 mont\u00e9 \u00e0 l&rsquo;arri\u00e8re d&rsquo;une moto qui s&rsquo;\u00e9tait arr\u00eat\u00e9e \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 de son v\u00e9hicule. Quelques jours apr\u00e8s l&rsquo;attaque, l&rsquo;organisation terroriste Al-Qa\u00efda dans la p\u00e9ninsule arabique (al-Qa\u2019ida in the Arabian Peninsula, AQAP) a revendiqu\u00e9 la responsabilit\u00e9 du meurtre.<\/p>\n\n<p>Au moment de sa mort, Shrum travaillait au Centre international de formation et de d\u00e9veloppement en tant qu\u2019administrateur et professeur d\u2019anglais.
