Abdelbasit est recherch\u00e9 pour son r\u00f4le en tant que l’un des tireurs dans les meurtres des employ\u00e9s de l’Agence am\u00e9ricaine pour le d\u00e9veloppement international ou U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), John Granville et Abdelrahman Abbas Rahama \u00e0 Khartoum le 1er janvier 2008. <\/p>\n\n
En 2009, un tribunal soudanais a jug\u00e9, d\u00e9clar\u00e9 coupable et condamn\u00e9 \u00e0 mort Abdelbasit pour son implication dans ces meurtres. Cependant, Abdelbasit s’est \u00e9vad\u00e9 de prison le 10 juin 2010, avant que sa peine ne soit ex\u00e9cut\u00e9e. Il est toujours en fuite et on pense qu’il se trouve en Somalie.<\/p>\n\n
Le 8 janvier 2013, le D\u00e9partement d’\u00c9tat des \u00c9tats-Unis a d\u00e9sign\u00e9 Abdelbasit comme un Terroriste Mondial Sp\u00e9cialement D\u00e9sign\u00e9 (Specially Designated Global Terrorist) conform\u00e9ment \u00e0 l’Order Ex\u00e9cutif 13224, tel qu’amend\u00e9.
