HTS controla una porci\u00f3n del territorio del noroeste de Siria con el prop\u00f3sito de derrocar el r\u00e9gimen de Assad de este pa\u00eds y sustituirlo por un estado isl\u00e1mico sun\u00ed que lleve a cabo su propio plan como afiliado de Al-Qaeda. Desde su creaci\u00f3n, dicha organizaci\u00f3n ha tomado como rehenes a varios ciudadanos estadounidenses.
