Levinson, un agente especial retirado del FBI, desapareci\u00f3 durante un viaje de negocios a la isla de Kish, Ir\u00e1n, el 9 de marzo de 2007. Levinson se hab\u00eda retirado del FBI en 1998 y en el momento de su desaparici\u00f3n trabajaba como investigador privado.<\/p>\n\n
En diciembre de 2020, el Departamento del Tesoro de Estados Unidos sancion\u00f3 a dos altos funcionarios iran\u00edes, Mohammad Baseri y Ahmad Khazai, por su participaci\u00f3n en el secuestro de Levinson.
