Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) es un grupo terrorista basado en el Sudeste Asi\u00e1tico que pretende establecer un califato en la regi\u00f3n. El JI es responsable de graves atentados terroristas en la regi\u00f3n, como el atentado de octubre del 2002 en un club nocturno de Bali, el cual result\u00f3 en la muerte de m\u00e1s de 200 personas, el ataque en agosto del 2003 en el hotel Marriott de Yakarta que caus\u00f3 12 muertos, y el atentado de bomba suicida de octubre del 2005 en Bali, en el que murieron 26 personas. \n<\/p>\n\n
El 23 de octubre del 2002, el Departamento de Estado de los EE.UU.s design\u00f3 al JI como una Organizaci\u00f3n Terrorista Extranjera conforme a la secci\u00f3n 219 de la Ley de Inmigraci\u00f3n y Nacionalidad, en su versi\u00f3n modificada, y como Terrorista Global Especialmente Designado conforme a la Orden Ejecutiva 13224, en su versi\u00f3n modificada.
