El Ej\u00e9rcito Rojo Japon\u00e9s (JRA) se form\u00f3 alrededor de 1970 tras separarse de la Liga Comunista Japonesa-Facci\u00f3n del Ej\u00e9rcito Rojo. \nLos objetivos declarados del JRA eran derrocar al gobierno y la monarqu\u00eda de Jap\u00f3n. La JRA llev\u00f3 a cabo varios atentados en todo el mundo, incluyendo el atentado de 1972 en el aeropuerto de Lod en Israel, que mat\u00f3 a 26 personas e hiri\u00f3 a 80 , el intento de toma de la embajada de los EE.UU. en Kuala Lumpur en 1975 y el atentado contra el Club USO de N\u00e1poles en Italia en 1988, en el que murieron cinco personas. \nEl l\u00edder de JRA fue detenido en el 2000, y el grupo anunci\u00f3 sus planes de disoluci\u00f3n en el 2001. \n<\/p>\n\n
El 8 de octubre de 1997, el Departamento de Estado de los Estados Unidos design\u00f3 al JRA como una Organizaci\u00f3n Terrorista Extranjera conforme a la secci\u00f3n 219 de la Ley de Inmigraci\u00f3n y Nacionalidad, en su versi\u00f3n modificada.
