Rewards for Justice is offering a reward of up to $5 million for information on al-Qa\u2019ida (AQ) key leader Hamza Salih bin Sa\u2019id al-Ghamdi.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Hamza al-Ghamdi is a native of Saudi Arabia and a senior leader of the terrorist group al-Qa\u2019ida. During the weeks leading up to al-Qa\u2019ida\u2019s September 11, 2001, attacks on the World Trade Towers and the Pentagon in the United States, Al-Ghamdi was one of AQ leader Usama bin Laden\u2019s most trusted associates and head of bin Laden\u2019s security detail.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Al-Ghamdi fought invading Soviet troops alongside bin Laden in Afghanistan in the 1980s. He participated in terrorist attacks in Tajikistan in the early 1990s and also operated an al-Qa\u2019ida guesthouse in Kabul, Afghanistan.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
In December 2001 he fought in the last battle of Tora Bora, a U.S. military operation in eastern Afghanistan aimed at capturing or killing bin Laden in response to the September 11 attacks.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Al-Ghamdi wrote a letter in which he pledged to abide by AQ\u2019s line of succession and revealed that he was now part of the organization\u2019s Shura council.
