Rewards for Justice is offering a reward of up to $5 million for information on Ali Atwa, also known as Ammar Mansour Bouslim and Hassan Rostom Salim. Atwa, an alleged member of Hizballah, is wanted for his role in the 1985 hijacking of TWA Flight 847.
On June 14, 1985, terrorists hijacked TWA Flight 847 during a flight from Athens to Rome. Over 17 days, the plane was forced to crisscross the Mediterranean with 153 passengers and crew members, from Beirut to Algiers and back again, landing in Beirut three times. During the first stop in Beirut, the hijackers severely beat, and then shot and killed, U.S. Navy diver Robert Stethem.
On November 14, 1985, Atwa was indicted for his role and participation in the hijacking. On October 12, 2001, the U.S. Department of State designated Atwa as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist pursuant to Executive Order 13224, as amended. As a result of this designation, among other consequences, all property and interests in property of Atwa that are subject to U.S. jurisdiction are blocked, and U.S. persons are generally prohibited from engaging in any transactions with Atwa. In addition, it is a crime to knowingly provide, or attempt or conspire to provide, material support or resources to Hizballah, a U.S.-designated Foreign Terrorist Organization. Atwa is on the FBI’s Most Wanted Terrorists List. He is believed to be in Lebanon.
